WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE AN ICT STUDENT

ICT can be beneficial to the world with computers to help students and teachers in their education. It benefits students because it can help them type up work quickly e.g. long essays. It gives them confidence on their vocabulary and if they did a mistake at the beginning when handwritten they don't have to write up the whole essay again, making their presentation of work low rated. It helps the teachers so they don't have that much of work to do. They benefit from this because they can have more free time without complaining, and planning lessons can be time consumed as well, e.g. if all the work and tests were programmed on a system the teachers will have a hassle free life and they wouldn't even have to waste time on marking papers because the system will print out the results for them.
CTs can and will empower teachers and learners, transforming teaching and learning processes from being highly teacher-dominated to student-centered, and that this transformation will result in increased learning gains for students, creating and allowing for opportunities for learners to develop their creativity, problem-solving abilities, informational reasoning skills, communication skills, and other higher-order thinking skills. However, there are currently very limited, unequivocally compelling data to support this belief.

KANNAWIDAN: THE YLOCOS FESTIVAL

Now on its 5th year, the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival had already established its identity as the prime festival of the province. The festival was launched in 2008 under the leadership of then Governor Deogracias Victor B. Savellano to commemorate the 190th foundation day of Ilocos Sur as separate province through the approval of a Spanish Royal Decree on February 2, 1818.

“Through this “Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, we are preserving and sustaining our old traditions, attractive products and practices as we are also promoting our tourism industry,” Savellano said.

According to Governor Luis Chavit Singson, the province has a rich heritage and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations due to the influence of the television, computer and internet.

“But,  through  our Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, these traditions, customs and cultures are revived to become more entertaining to give more fun and attractions to the visiting tourists in the province,” Singson said.

“Through our Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, which is the official annual festival of the province our tourism industry was enhanced and helped boost the demand of our products, more job opportunities and livelihood opportunities were crated and more income for our people were generated,” he added.

The 2012 Kannawidan Ylocos Festival opened with a concelebrated mass held at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral followed by a procession of the patron saints of the 40 parishes including the images of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary around the province’s capital city in the afternoon of on January 29. .

Reverend Father Roque Reyes, who officiated the mass, said that the mass and the procession were the acts of thanksgiving to the God almighty for the blessings received by the province and the exhibition of the strong religious belief of the Ilocano families.

After the procession, a dinner for all was enjoined to all bystanders, tourists and visitors at Plaza Salcedo followed by fireworks display to signify the formal start of the different events of the weeklong festival.

On same night, the members of the Bayanihan Dance Company entertained the Ilocanos with their world class performance of the Beauty of the Philippines through dances, music and sounds. Their graceful movements and excellent rendition of songs and playing the indigenous musical instruments drew attractions from the crowd.

On the following day, a traditional opening ritual was performed by the students of the Ilocos Sur Special High School for Culture and the Arts in Suyo, Ilocos Sur. Vice Governor Savellano and the officials of the Department of Education Division of Ilocos Sur signified the start of the different contests for elementary and high school students. These include traditional tribal rituals, choir and glee club competition, marching band contest, traditional music ensemble, dance drama, traditional and folk dances, contemporary dance competition and street dancing showdown. These events aimed to encourage young Ilocanos to learn these indigenous songs and dances for sustainability and preservation.

Partuat ken Patanor Trade and Agri Fair also opened on the same day. Officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) headed by Thelma Dumpit Murillo graced the occasion.

MY DREAM, MY FUTURE

“The world is flat” so there are many reasons for people to consider that the world is more and more exciting, comfortable, interesting in the future. But in my own opinion, the future will be more firghtening than it is exciting. Because of the following reasons.
Firstly, because of developing of technology, economics, the increasing of population therefore humanrace will need more the natural resource and certainly, we have to speed up the exploitative actions. As a result, that resource will come into exhaution because everything has its limit and in the future, I think the next generation will be harder to live and exist. Besides the above consequence, the effect of the uncontrolled exploitation is being the reason of the Act of God as flood, mudslide, floodside etc., which causes many disasters for the living of people allover the world. For example, the uncontrolled exploitation to the watershed in the North-West areas of Vietnam has caused many the floodslide, mudslide and many people killed by this disasters.
Secondly, the development of economics as well as the industrialization, mordenizations in the developing countries will more and more form many the urban zone, new cities, manufactures, industrial zones. Besides the consequence of improving the living standard for many people, they will also lead the world to the hardship such as house-glass effect, environmental pollution, water pollution, the global warming etc,. Especially, these phenomenons are impacting on the world gradually and we can not feel or see it overnight so it seems to be the world have not had the specific solutions to solve them absolutely so far. Obviously, the above “heritages” that we leave over, are too heavy for our next generation in the future to face.
Thirdly, the conflict of the civilization has become seriously, especially the conflict between the Western and the Islam. The terroris attacks which the extreme Islam forces make on the tourism island Bali in Indonesia, the Trade World Center in New York America, for example, were the typical evidences for this conflict. This not only will divide the world into the opposite systems but also will cause the un-stable life for people in the countries.
In my eyes, the future is more frightenning than it is exciting. Everytime I come back my homeland and stretch my vision out on the fields and landscape, just only dream arising in my mind: The world, please do not change.

"KEEPING IN MIND OUR MOTHER TONGUE"

Every country has their own culture, belief and most of all their own identity, and our identity is our own language, even also us Filipino has our language and also local languages. As an  Ilocano we are proud to use our own dialect or language Iloco.
Imagine us if we do not have a language or dialect to use in communicating to others. It’s good to all of us that we have our foreign language, in this way it is easy for us to communicate to other nations but in this way also we are forgetting our own local languages and we get this language to our ancestral grand grandfathers maybe centuries ago and it is older than us and it is still alive until now and we most give our local languages importance and respect and we must put this into our mind so that it will be not thrown away like a trash. It is easier for us also to talk and to expressed our feeling and thought in our own dialect because we already master the words into it.
It is good that we have a foreign language but we must remember also that we have our own dialect to be use.

ESSENCE OF CHRISTMAS

The cold breeze of air is coming to you, bright and colorful Christmas light has lighten the streets, I can hear group of children caroling in the street, Oh it is December and it is already Christmas.
Different country have there different ways and traditions in celebrating Christmas but I can say that we Filipinos is the best and has the longest season of celebrating Christmas. Christmas is the season were we celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ is 12 midnight of December 25, we Filipinos celebrate this season with our complete whole family with the delicious food in our tables and exchanging of gifts during 12 midnight, but the foods and gifts doesn’t matter because what more important and the true essence of this event is the love for all the people surrounds us and the peace that is running in our heart. In this day’s the things that will brings us true happiness is when we celebrate Christmas with the people that is important and specially the people that you love, this will bring us an eternal happiness in our life.
The material things that we are giving to the person that we loves is not really what makes them happy but what really makes them happy is the love  that we are giving to them.
